Campaign: SMS Click to ride
Locations: Island wide
Background and purpose:
In partnership with Southern Vectis, this scheme is to promote public transport,
encouraging bus usage by installing hi-tech equipment that allows travellers
to receive by text information on bus services, thus making it easier to find
out bus times. The service will be available at every bus stop (of which there
are over 1300 bus stops on the Island) and will be managed by Southern Vectis,
using Traveline as the information provider.

Progress report:
- Already created unique codes for each bus stop.
- The approach is currently being trialled within the Council’s Engineering Services department
Activities for next period:
- The first routes will go live in Autumn
