Chain Ferry Timetable
Due to strike action by a number of unions on Thursday 10 July, the Cowes floating bridge will not be running on the day.
A passenger launch will be available for foot passengers.
The floating bridge will return to normal service on Friday 11 July.
The Cowes chain ferry which operates 365 days a year and conveys foot passengers and vehicles on the short crossing of a few minutes, across the fast-flowing narrow mouth of the River Medina between Cowes and East Cowes. The service operates for around 18 hours each day.
It operates Mondays to Saturdays between 5am and 12.30am and on Sundays between 6.40am and 12.30am.
Books of vouchers are available from Halls Newsagents (East Cowes), The Ferry Shop (West Cowes) and County Hall Reception (Newport).
Please note that the service may be suspended when there are exceptionally high or low tides (spring tides).

Normally, the chain ferry is taken out of service once a year for maintenance. During this time a launch service operates for foot passengers only, for more information please click here.
During AAM Cowes Week (2 to 9 August 2014), the floating bridge has a revised timetable which will be published here shortly. In particular, from 6pm until 11pm the service is for foot passengers only on Firework Night (Friday 8 August)
