The floating bridge will be out of service from Tuesday 22 April 2014 for approximately one week.  This is to enable further maintenance to be carried out in a dry dock.  Diversions will be in place for motorists, while a passenger launch will again be available.

The Cowes chain ferry which operates 365 days a year and conveys foot passengers and vehicles on the short crossing of a few minutes, across the fast-flowing narrow mouth of the River Medina  between Cowes and East Cowes. The service operates for around 18 hours each day.

It operates Mondays to Saturdays between 0500 and 0030 and on Sundays between 0640 and 0030.

Books of vouchers are available from Halls Newsagents (East Cowes), The Ferry Shop (West Cowes) and County Hall Reception (Newport).

Please note that the service may be suspended when there are exceptionally high or low tides (spring tides).
