Christmas and New Year crossing times
Please note that on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day, the first crossing will be at 6.30am. This is the only change to the service over the holiday period.
General floating bridge information
The Cowes chain ferry which operates 365 days a year and conveys foot passengers and vehicles on the short crossing of a few minutes, across the fast-flowing narrow mouth of the River Medina between Cowes and East Cowes. The service operates for around 18 hours each day.
It operates Mondays to Saturdays between 5am and 12.30am and on Sundays between 6.40am and 12.30am.
Books of vouchers are available from Halls Newsagents (East Cowes), The Ferry Shop (West Cowes) and County Hall Reception (Newport).
Please note that the service may be suspended when there are exceptionally high or low tides (spring tides).
