Emergency Duty Service

The Social Services and Housing Directorate operates an Emergency Duty Service to help deal with crises in people’s care or with any welfare emergency involving adults, children and families that occurs outside normal office hours, Bank Holidays and most days over the Christmas and New Year period. Normal office hours are 8:30 am to 5 pm Monday to Thursday and 8:30 am to 4:30 pm on a Friday.

Should you, the person you are caring for, your family or neighbours have immediate difficulties with personal care or if you have concerns about a child or adult being at risk of harm outside normal office hours, please telephone (01983) 821105.  (Please note that telephone calls may be recorded).

It is regretted that the Emergency Duty Service cannot deal with non-urgent enquiries or act as a message service for ‘daytime’ social or housing services.

Non-urgent (non-emergency) enquiries should be made during normal office hours to the following:

Adult Services (01983) 823340

Children’s Services (01983) 525790

Housing Services (01983) 823040

For any non-urgent enquiries about the Emergency Duty Service
e-mail at customer.services@iow.gov.uk
