Safer Neighbourhoods Partnership

Illegal drugs ruin lives and damages communities; by reducing the amount of substance misuse related crime there should be a significant reduction in overall crime, anti social behaviour and the fear of crime perceived by the communities.

The Drug Action Team work very closely with the Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership (CDRP), we are co-located with the Safer Neighbourhood Partnership. The priorities for us are to deliver together on the Drug Strategy 2008- 2018:

The drug strategy aims to reduce the harm that drugs cause to society, to communities, individuals and their families.

The 2008-2018 drug strategy comprises four strands of work:
  • Protecting communities through tackling drug supply, drug-related crime and anti-social behaviour
  • Preventing harm to children, young people and families affected by drug misuse
  • Delivering new approaches to drug treatment and social re-integration
  • Public information campaigns, communications and community engagement

The Safer Neighbourhoods Partnership will be launching it’s website www.SaferWight.org.uk soon. The website will contain details of all the activities undertaken with the Safer Neighbourhoods Partnership.
