Contact AddressThe Isle of Wight Council Highway Authority has a mandatory duty to maintain the highway network ensuring that the highways are safe and without obstruction for the benefit of the public, and under the Highways Act 1980 to protect the rights of the enjoyment and public use of the highway Each year the Highway Maintenance section works to provide the public with a safe Highway Infrastructure, these include responsibilities involving: -
Road Maintenance also regularly monitors stabilisation within certain parts of the Island, which helps to predict the remaining life of the highway. There are various Applications & Licences available to the public through Highway Maintenance; they are explained within the appropriate web pages.
