Car seat groups – explained


  • Up to 13 kgs / To 28.6 pounds (approx birth to 12 months)
A rearward-facing seat which can be used in the front or rear of the car DO NOT use on a passenger seat fitted with an active front airbag

  • 9 – 18 kgs / 20 - 40 pounds (approx 9 months to 4 years)
A forward-facing seat which can be used in the front or rear of the car. These sometimes have a choice of upright or reclined positions

  • 15-25 kgs / 33 - 55 pounds (approx 4-6 years)
A forward-facing seat or booster which can be used in the front or rear of the car. The booster seat lifts the child and positions the adult lap and diagonal seatbelt correctly.

  • 22 – 36 kgs / 48.5 - 79 pounds (approx 6-11 years)
A forward-facing seat or booster which can be used in the front or rear of the car. The booster seat lifted the child and positions the adult lap and diagonal seatbelt correctly.
