Please note that inclusion on this list should not be regarded as a recommendation and omission from the list should not be taken to imply that a builder is unsuitable.
All the builders listed have given information which has been requested by the Housing Renewal Section to allow them to become ‘accredited’. This should give you the assurance that the service provided will be of an acceptable standard. Their inclusion on the accredited list will be continuously monitored, and we welcome feedback on their service.

CODE OF CONDUCT SUMMARY
All of the builders and specialist contractors that appear on this list have agreed to a Code of Conduct prepared by Housing Services. In summary, the items covered by this Code are as follows (please note that this list is not exhaustive and is to be used in summation only):
Visiting Site – Your builder is required to visit your property in order to complete their quotation.
Providing Quotations along with completing Costing Schedules – A quotation will only be considered if it is accompanied with a covering letter from your builder specifying their proposals.
Competing fairly – You must not show a builder a quotation provided by another builder and builders are reminded that any incidence of unfair trading may be referred to Trading Standards.
Continuous working – Your builder is required to carry out the works in a continuous manner, where possible.
Variations – Any variations or unforeseen works are to be reported to the Council prior to their undertaking.
Defects liability period – Your builder is responsible for defects due to poor workmanship for a period of 12 months,
Damage and protection of works – Your builder is responsible for damage caused by their activities.
Clearance – Your builder is responsible for clearing away debris in line with the required works.
Competency and conduct – Your builder must provide competent employees to undertake the works and is responsible for their conduct whilst at your property.
Materials and workmanship – Your builder is responsible for providing materials that are fit for purpose and for the quality of workmanship whilst at your property.
Manufacturers guarantees and operation of equipment – You and your builder are responsible for ensuring that manufacturers warranties are completed.
Monitoring – You are responsible for ensuring that you are happy with the workmanship and conduct of your builder, and ensuring that the works are undertaken in a timely manner.
