Your rubbish is collected on a weekly basis from the kerbside.

Please ensure your waste is available by 7am on the morning of collection day.

Please do not put waste kerbside before 6pm the night before your collection day.

Please securely store waste prior to collection.

We are committed to helping the environment and would like to help you to do the same. Before you throw something away, please consider whether you could reuse or recycle it.

There is no bag limit for collection, however to help the environment we ask that you try to produce as little waste as possible.

X Bulky Items
Items such as furniture, electrical appliances, carpet, fire extinguishers, gas bottles, building materials, and car batteries. Click here for more information
X Garden Waste
This can be taken to one of the household waste recycling centre or click here for more information on garden waste collections.
X Soil
This can be taken to one of the household waste recycling centre
X Rubble
This can be taken to one of the household waste recycling centre
X Scrap Metal
This can be taken to one of the household waste recycling centre
X Clinical Waste
Please check with your doctor or St Mary’s Hospital
X Car Batteries
These can be taken to one of the household waste recycling centre
X Gas Canisters
These can be taken to one of the household waste recycling centre
X Sharp Objects
Please wrap items such as knives or broken glass in newspaper and place in a separate, labelled bag so as not to injure the collection crew.
X Business / Trade waste
The Isle of Wight Council does not collect business / trade waste you must organise a separate collection for this. It is illegal for this waste to be placed out for collection with domestic waste.

Missed Collection

Due to the nature of kerbside collections, it is very unlikely that waste presented correctly will be missed. However, if your waste has not been collected on your collection day please contact us on 823777, email waste team or complete an e-form and if it has been missed your waste will be collected by the end of the next available working day.

Assisted Collections

If you have difficulty moving your waste and / or recycling to the kerbside please contact us as you may be entitled to an assisted collection.
