The Isle of Wight Council is inviting residents to submit comments about the future of the Military Road.
The Island’s coastline is constantly changing and some of the biggest changes can be seen along the south western coast where a combination of complex geology and the effects of the sea have had a dramatic impact on the land and buildings in the area.
A large section of coastal land was lost during the first few months of 2010 resulting in the cliff edge receding to the edge of the Military Road (A3055), which has had to be reduced to single line traffic for safety reasons.
The council is now looking at a number of options and is keen to gather the views of residents.
The information below sets out the various issues to be considered when deciding the future of the road.
This information is also included in a mobile exhibition which will be on display throughout August.
Manned exhibitions will be held in the following locations:
A unmanned display will also be made available at a number of locations in South and West Wight during August.
Comments will then be considered by the council as part of its decision making process.
