| | The Mothers’ Union. We have a small but enthusiastic branch of the MU at St Olave's. We meet on the third Thursday of the month at 2.15 pm in the Chillerton Club. (St Olave's is rather cold and there is no loo!) We have a short service, which is usually followed by a speaker, or, occasionally, an activity of some kind. Then an all-important cup of tea! Through our secretary, Joyce Taylor, we have established a link with the MU branch in Tristan da Cunha. Visitors are most welcome at our meetings - ladies and gentlemen! | | The Happy CircleThis group meets at the Chillerton Club at 2.30 pm on the second and fourth Monday of each month. The meetings are informal and open to anyone who would like a chat and a cup of tea with friendly neighbours. Members subscribe fifty pence each meeting and there is always a raffle. Income covers heating and lighting and surplus goes towards the occasional festive lunch. There are no invited speakers, routine is informal and members usually spend the afternoon chatting or playing cards. |
| | The Thursday ClubWhen the Chillerton W.I. failed a few years ago, members felt that a small local meeting without the expense of financing a National Organisation would cater for their needs and formed The Thursday Club. Meetings are at the Chillerton Club at 2.30 on the second Thursday of each month. They are informal and open to all. There is no set programme but members usually bring along things which are of general interest. Members pay 50p each meeting to cover expenses. |

| | Sweet MusicHave you heard about the "Chillerton Clarinet Choir"? We are all amateurs who enjoy playing ensemble music for enjoyment as well as for improving our skills,- and we have a great deal of fun too! We all play wind instruments- originally clarinets but Richard, on the bassoon, provides a lovely bass. One of the Helens is foremost a flautist but she is proficiently taking up the clarinet as well though Occasionally, when circumstances demand, she will play her flute instead in the “Clarinet Choir”! We meet at The Community Hall in Chillerton which is an ideal venue as it is so central - players who do not live in Chillerton come from Freshwater, Gurnard, Cowes, Brighstone and Shanklin and we are very pleased to use it for our weekly Monday morning sessions. Please contact Jill [721247] if you would like to join us. We are a friendly bunch and very accommodating but we don’t take it all TOO seriously! |
