| Length Of Service | Number of Days' Annual Leave |
| Up to 5 years | 21 Days |
| 5 years and over | 25 days |
| 10 years and over | 26 days |
| 15 years and over | 27 days |

In addition to the basic allowance, all employees (including those working part-time – regardless of length of service) have an entitlement to three further days’ annual leave, comprising two ‘extra-statutory’ days and one additional day (pro rata for part-time employees). These additional three days’ leave are taken between Christmas and New Year, enabling most of the Isle of Wight Council to be closed between Christmas Day and New Year’s Day inclusive. Some employees will have protected leave due to previous policies still being applicable or for staff who have transferred to the Council by TUPE (Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations 2006).
Directors and Heads of Service each receive 30 days annual leave, inclusive of extra statutory days.
