David Whittaker

I was very pleased and honoured to be re-elected on 4th June 2009 to represent the Residents of the new Ward of Newport West, and look forward to serving the residents of the area. My term of office lasts to May 2013. I would like to share my vision for a community base within the area and improve the environment we live in.



I hold my surgery at County Hall for any residents who wish to meet me and/or have issues they wish me to take up with the Council. Please telephone Customer Services on 821000 who will be pleased to make an appointment. The surgeries will normally be held on Mondays, or telephone me at home on 526760, at County Hall on 821000 or email me david.whittaker@iow.gov.uk

Biography: I was born in Barnstaple, Devon in November 1940 to an evacuated family and returned to South-West London in 1944 where I was educated.



I commenced my working life in the city of London working for various companies in a financial field ranging from metals to fast food providers.



I joined London Transport in 1964 as a conductor and progressed to an executive assistant within the personnel field of recruitment and training. During this time I met and married Lydia and now have three grown-up sons and five grandchildren.



I moved to the Isle of Wight in March 1986 after the bus industry was de-regulated and went into the field of residential care for the elderly, licensed by the Isle of Wight Council. Since June 2005 servered as Councillor for Carisbrooke East
