Mr George Brown

Welcome to My Website

George BrownMy thanks to the people of Cowes North for entrusting me to represent your interests at County Hall. I have met many of you on your doorsteps and have enquired about any local issues that may be troubling you. If I can learn about those issues or problems as soon as they become apparent there will be a better chance of finding an early solution.

Please use this site, or telephone me on 200909, and it will be a pleasure to arrange to meet. Matters will be dealt with in strict confidence, unless you release me to share them with Council officers.

Needless to say, I will represent all residents even-handedly, regardless of political affiliation.

Biography: After National Service in the Royal Navy as a Seaman Officer (RNR), I read law at Cambridge and rowed in two Boat Races. I then joined ICI, working in HR in Head Office and on a large manufacturing site. From there I moved into worldwide legal and commercial negotiations with a venture consortium. That completed, I was appointed to the Board of an international engineering company, where I served successively as Marketing Director, Managing Director and Chairman. More recently, I was a founding partner in a firm of international merger and acquisition brokers.

In the public sector, I have been an appointed member of a New Town Development Corporation, with financial responsibility, and member of a Quango on international development.

Since the early 1970’s I have managed my family’s urban property interests in the North of England and have considerable experience in leasehold tenure.

My direct involvement in tourism has been through the ownership and direction of a nineteen bedroom seaside resort hotel and, more recently, in marketing a top-rated bed and breakfast and holiday flat business in the New Forest.

I was elected a Steward of Henley Royal Regatta in 1969 and have served as Captain and President of Leander Club.

I live in Cowes with my wife, Sue.
