Mrs Muriel Miller

Welcome to My Website

Muriel MillerThank you for visiting my web site and I hope you find the information you require. I have been the county councillor for East Cowes South ward since 1998 and until 2005 was also on the East Cowes Town council.

My main concern is East Cowes and representing the residents of my ward.

I do not hold a surgery as I feel it is important for people to contact me when it is convenient to them.

I can be contacted by e-mail, letter or telephone. If I am not available I have an answerphone and promise to return your call within 24 hours. If you wish to phone, I prefer that people use my landline and not my mobile number

If you have any problems or wish to discuss any issues please contact me using the link on the left or by any of the above methods.

Biography:I was born in London in February 1951 and moved to the island 30 years ago. I am married to Roy and we have no children.

I have worked in the accounts department of the Isle of Wight Health Authority and also the accounts department and shipping department at GKN. I left GKN in 2001 to concentrate on my council duties.

In the last administration (prior to May 2005) I sat on 3 Select committees, several task groups and was also Chair of the Development Control Committee, or planning as it is known. In this administration I am on the Regulatory Committee which includes Licensing and Development Control.

Although I am on committees, my main concerns are for the people that I represent and the improvement of East Cowes.

In the last admininstration I was pleased to be part of a task group that persuaded the council to install an electronic book of remembrance at the crematorium, which I hope anyone who uses it finds beneficial.

I am also Vice Chair of Governors at Osborne Middle school and until May 2005 was a member of East Cowes Town Council. I decided not to stand for re-election for this, as I feel it is important that new councillors are introduced to keep the council fresh and motivated, thus making the town council a focal point of East Cowes.

In my spare time I enjoy walking our dog Barney, reading, listening to music and counted cross-stitch.
