Who are we?
Short Explanation:

We are a drug and alcohol service for young people. Monday to Friday, 9-5.

Detailed Explanation:
We offer a holistic, needs-led service for young people and their families/carers affected by substance misuse.  We also offer advice and training to other agencies working with young people.

‘If I want to talk to someone about drugs or alcohol, who are you?’
  • We are a specialist team
  • We offer friendly, safe, confidential up-to-date advice on drugs/alcohol use.
  • We offer screening/assessment.
  • We offer support, an outreach service, one-to-one group work.
‘What is a specialist team?’
  • We are a local authority-led multi-disciplinary team consisting of:
  • service team leader;
  • substance misuse workers;
  • Youth Offending Team (YOT) substance misuse workers;
  • education advisor;
  • CAHMS worker
We also work with the following agencies:
  • Education;
  • Youth Offending Team;
  • Connexions;
  • Social Services
  • Hostels;
  • Substance  Misuse Midwife;
  • NHS trusts;
‘If I contact the team, what will happen?’
  • You will take part in an assessment with a substance misuse worker so we can see how substance misuse is affecting your life.  Then together we will draw up an action plan to support the areas of your life you feel you need help with.  It could include education, training or employment, physical and mental well being, home life, relationships as well as substance use/misuse.
‘That sounds ok, so how do I get in touch with you?’
  • If you are under 19 or the parent/carer of a young person, you can contact 'Get Sorted' by phoning 01983 617660, weekdays 9am to 5pm.
If I want to meet someone, where do I go?’
  • You decide, whether cafe, home, park, or by appointment at Ryde or Newport.  Wherever you live, we can meet you.
‘Can someone I already work with contact you?’
  • YES - if you are already working with someone, e.g. Connexions advisor, social worker, etc, they can phone the team on your behalf and talk about making a referral.  We will respond to referrals within 48 hours.
‘What about confidentiality?’
  • We will explain our confidentiality policy to you when we first meet, as well as giving you a written copy so you know where you stand.
