Meet Your Emergency Planning TeamThe Isle of Wight Council’s Emergency Planning Service is made up of a small team of three, Steve Grogan, Manager, Jeanette Ring, Emergency Planning Officer, and Mary Cheal, Emergency Planning Assistant. The team has a great deal of experience and have been involved in incidents both on the Island and the mainland. We liaise and work with many, private, public and voluntary sector agencies and organisations. With them we are constantly working towards achieving a robust and effective community resilience structure that can effectively respond to the various disruptive incidents that could impact upon the Island’s communities and environment. THE TEAM ![]() Steve Grogan – Emergency Planning Manager
Prior to coming to the Island Steve gained Emergency Planning experience in rural Shropshire and the industrial Northwest of England. His experiences have included major flooding, power shortages and chemical factory incidents. Steve’s major driver to work and live on the Island was the opportunity to work for a progressive Local Authority that wants and strives to deliver the best possible services to its communities. Jeanette Ring – Emergency Planning Officer Jeanette has lived and worked on the Island for a number of years and her vast local knowledge and experience has been crucial to ensuring the Council has responded quickly and effectively to the various and diverse incidents that have affected the Island. Jeanette has spent a great deal of time developing a close working relationship with the many agencies both on and off the Island that greatly contributes to the Councils highly regarded and effective Emergency Planning Service. Mary Cheal – Emergency Planning Assistant Mary’s experience of working in the engineering industry and special projects both for the Health and Local Authority gives the team skills and knowledge that are greatly valued, and the envy of many other Local Authority Emergency Planning Units. Mary’s knowledge and working relationship with such organisations as Health and the Environment Agency ensures the team not only works towards protecting the Island’s communities, but also its environment. |
