Did you know that there are now over 200 council services available online with more being added all the time? iwight.com is striving to make access to services more convenient for all Island residents and visitors to the Isle of Wight by bringing together the widest possible range of public service information and services via this one site.
The
A-Z of Council Services can be located via the navigation bar situated
on the left of iwight.com’s homepage. It is essentially a comprehensive
directory of over 850 services provided to the public, by the Isle of Wight
Council. As you would expect, the entries are listed alphabetically, but there
is also a useful search facility where keywords can be entered. (This is particularly
beneficial if you know exactly what you are looking for as it saves on the scrolling!)
Upon accessing any of the
A-Z listings you will be presented with a service summary page providing you
with a brief description of the service, all of the relevant contact details,
including opening times and, where applicable, a link to the service’s
very own website, contained within the parameters of iwight.com.
Should you require more information, this page also provides you with access
to a range of useful weblinks including links to relevant third parties who
can offer additional trusted advice and support.
By using this section of our website, you also have the opportunity to view
a range of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s) which have been compiled
about each service by the people who work in these areas and who are therefore
best placed to know the questions you require answering! All of these FAQ’s
are designed to help eradicate the need for you to pick up the phone or spend
time sending the service an email to obtain the answer to what may actually
be a reasonably straightforward question.
Depending on the nature of the service you have selected, you can also report,
enquire, apply and pay for things online using the A-Z of Council Services.
As with FAQ’s, the ‘Forms’ tab will appear at the top of
the service summary page if the service entry has any electronic forms associated
with it.
Gone are the days when you have to write to or drop into the Isle of Wight
Council in order to obtain a form, only to complete it at home and then return it by
post. With over 55% of forms containing the functionality to be submitted
directly to the relevant service online, here on iwight.com we aim
to make your life easier.
Want to apply for a school place for your child? Request a library book? Pay for an excess parking charge, submit a planning application, report a highway defect or apply for a job with the council? …Do it online!
The Online Services
section of iwight.com combines the 300-plus electronic
forms available on the system so far. Instead of being categorised by
service, this area of the site allows you to browse for your
chosen form according to the nature of the online transaction you wish
to complete. The online services are listed under the following categories:
The Pay
Online section of iwight.com is a secure area of the site
which allows you to pay for goods and services over the Internet using
electronic payment methods (Debit Card or Credit Card). You can now pay
for over 60 services online, including; Council
Tax, B & B Contributions, Business Rates, Copies of Birth, Death and
Marriage certificates, Excess Charge Tickets and the Island Residents
General Parking Permit. You can also check
your current balance for your Council Tax, Business Rates, Sundry
Debtor Invoices or Homecare Statements and then pay all or part of any
balance using our online payments facility.
The Online Services section of the site also brings together an increasing
number of online
national government services - from booking a driving test and taxing
your car to renewing your passport, buying a TV license or applying for
a student loan. With a view to putting convenience first - everything
on iwight.com is designed to be available in one place; 24 hours a day, 7 days a week…
all at the touch of a button.
The facility exists within iwight.com to upload your details by completing a short one-off questionnaire and in doing so, to build up a profile of yourself that can be used to personalise your visit to the website and also enable you to deal with the Council directly if you wish to do so.
Your
contact details can be saved and then used when completing an e-Form. All
you need to do is login at the top of the form by entering the email address
and password provided by yourself at the time of registration, and many of
your personal details will automatically be pre-populated within the form;
saving you valuable time in having to re-key the same information all over again.
Subscribing to My
Profile also allows you to save the data you have entered in an e-Form
mid way through completion, allowing you to return to it and submit the form at your leisure.
My Profile also permits you to customise the information you see on iwight.com.
You can select which sections of the site you would like to be visible when
logging onto your personal homepage, and also chose specific Island locations
to view information about, including forthcoming events, attractions/ places
to go and more practical details such as road works.
www.iwight.com allows you access to your council whenever it suits
you. With 3.5 million page views per month from over 115,000 unique visitors and over 35,000 referrals monthly from
Google alone, it’s easy to see why we’re the Island’s largest
website for essential information about everything you need to know about
all aspects of living, working and visiting the Island.
