Ryde Christmas Festival & Lantern Parade -
Ryde Town Centre, Saturday 6 December

The Ryde Christmas Festival & Lantern Parade is organised by the Carnival Learning Centre in conjunction with Ryde Carnival, Ryde Arts Festival and Ryde Town Council.

Taking place on Saturday 6 December, the town centre programme is as follows:

• Seasonal green wreath making in St Thomas’ Heritage Centre 10.30 – 3pm
• Entertainment and live music around the town from 5.30 – 7.30pm
• Lantern Parade arrives from 6pm
• Aerial fireworks display at 6.30pm (approx)
• Seasonal concert of Early Music in St Thomas’ Heritage Centre 8pm (tickets on the door)
• Late night shopping in many shops
• Seasonal food and drink on sale


Ryde Lantern Carnival (formerly Lights of Love Parade)

Saturday 6th December
6pm to 8pm

The original and still the biggest and best Lantern Parade on the Island!

• Assembles and departs from Dover Park and Greenmount Primary Schools. Sets off at 5.45
• NEW ROUTE. Enters Town Centre from Star St, then High St (top end) into Town Square, Anglesea St, Upper George St, Cross St, into St Thomas’ Square and Upper Union St.
• Groups taking part in the parade Music and dancers Raw Samba, Greenmount Samba Band, and Haylands Primary School, Lantern groups St Mary’s Primary School, Greenmount Primary School, Dover Park Primary School, Bishop Lovett School, Ryde High School, Oakfield Primary School, Chillerton and Rookley School, Ryde Junior School, Mayfield Middle School, Christ the King College, IOW College, Way Forward group, and Isle of Wight Zoo.

This years theme for the lanterns is 'Faces A-Glow!' Please come along and support the parade.
