The purpose of this consultation exercise is to invite your views by 19th March 2009 on the Isle of Wight Council adopting the "Model Standards 2008 for Caravan Sites in England" under the Caravan Sites and Control of Development Act 1960 - Section 5".
The Isle of Wight Council licence caravan sites and can attach conditions to each licence. The "Model Standards 1989: Permanent Residential Mobile Home Sites" are the guidelines currently used by the council when attaching conditions. The "Model Standards 2008" replace this document.
The Model Standards only apply to sites that are used as permanent residential units. They do not apply to sites used as touring sites or sites used exclusively for holidays.
The Standards represent what is considered to be good practice in caravan sites.
If adopted the Model Standards will provide the conditions for any site licence granted after they are adopted and if necessary will be attached to any existing licences.
The full document can be viewed on this page, in all public libraries or at the Licensing Team offices at Jubilee Stores, The Quay, Newport, Isle of Wight, PO30 2EH.
There will also be a presentation evening to explain the Model Standards on Thursday 22nd January 2009 at 7pm in the Council Chamber at County Hall in Newport.
