Mottistone Manor Jazz

Backstage at the Jazz eventArrangements are well underway for the National Trust's annual Mottistone Jazz event. Now in its 20th year, the event, which is sponsored by Wightlink and the Isle of Wight County Press, is being held on Saturday 28th July in the magical setting of Mottistone Manor Gardens. A mixture of traditional and popular jazz will be provided by the Pete Allen Jazz Band and the Goose Island Syncopators supported by the Ryde School Swing Band.

Whether you come dressed in style with a large group of friends, picnic tables and fine hampers or with just a rug and a sandwich the evening is yours to enjoy. Dance the night away or relax and enjoy the music: whatever the size of your party you are assured of a warm welcome.

Magical Music at Mottistone

Mottistone ManorMottistone Jazz is the National Trust's main fundraising event on the Island and profits will help the Trust continue its vital, local conservation work. Tickets cost £18 and are on sale from the National Trust Shop in Brighstone telephone (01983) 740689 for credit and debit card sales. Alternatively tickets are also available from the County Press shop in Newport and Wightlink Island ferry terminals.

Gates open at 6.30pm and free car parking is available in a nearby field. The event finishes at approximately 11pm. Stewards will be on hand to direct traffic and for those using taxis, the drop off and collection point is in the sponsors' car park. Mottistone Manor Garden is situated on the B3399 between Brighstone and Brook.

Although there is no food for sale, there is a small bar, a coffee van and a shop selling gifts and memorabilia.

The event is so well established locally that it has minimal impact on local residents, many of whom attend regularly. Virtually all Island Trust staff and many of its volunteers give up their time to act as stewards and help to make the evening the success it is.
