International Scooter Rally

The Custom Show is a must for scooter fanatics and curious on-lookers alikeThe largest scooter event in the world is set to return to Ryde for the August Bank Holiday weekend. The Victorian town will welcome thousands of fellow scooter enthusiasts for a fun-filled line-up of ride-outs; rally events and parties from Friday 22 to Monday 25.

The scooterists have been coming to the Isle of Wight every August for over a decade and the rally increases in size annually.

A record breaking, breath-taking assembly of enthusiasts

The International Scooter Rally 2008As always, the highlight of the weekend will be the mass ride-out around the Island on Sunday 24, which is without any shadow of a doubt a truly awesome sight to behold.

Incredibly, last year's turnout of around five thousand bikes for the ride-out on Sunday afternoon smashed the Guinness World Record for the biggest uninterrupted parade of machines.

Hundreds of devoted followers, well wishers and curious on-lookers are expected to fill the length of Ryde Esplanade in order to witness the scooters depart the Planet Ice Arena for their massive rally. Year-on-year spectators cram onto the pavements, verges, roundabouts and onto the balcony surrounding the LA Bowl pavilion to catch a glimpse of the procession of vehicles as they head off past Ryde Castle towards Appley.

The streets of Ryde are guarenteed to have a real buzz to them

Ryde will be bustling over the August Bank Holiday weekendThroughout the weekend the pubs, bars and cafes in Ryde are often full to bursting with many venues putting on additional entertainment especially for the lively visitors. Planet Ice Arena will be hosting most of the main evening entertainment and the line-up has been extended to feature two rooms this year. The 'Soul Zone' will provide an eclectic mix of Northern and Blue Eyed Soul intertwined with popular sixties classics whilst the main arena is to house music from the very best Scooter Rally DJ's in the UK, performing through the night until 3am.

Scooters of all shapes and sizes can be seen throughout the townSmallbrook Stadium on the outskirts of Ryde is always a hive of activity and is once again getting ready to accommodate two thousand people camping onsite this year. Other events due to be staged during the weekend will include a scooterist dealers fair at Smallbrook, where enthusiasts will be able to find everything from scooters to t-shirts and memorabilia on sale. The Balcony Nightclub on Ryde Esplanade will host the traditional end of rally party on the Sunday evening to which members of the public are also welcome to go along to.

Become accustomed to the fantastic Custom Show

Some of the top custom scooters cost in excess of £15,000 to buildBesides the rally itself, another not-to-be-missed spectacle of the great bank holiday biking weekend is the International Scooter Custom Show on Saturday daytime at the Planet Ice Arena. This event showcases the best collection of custom scooters from across Europe and the British Isles ever gathered under one roof, including top custom scooters that cost in excess of £15,000 to build!

With such recognition and a series of prestigious trophies up for grabs, it's easy to see why owners of some of the hottest scooters around take the trouble to transport their prize processions across the Solent. Multiple classes will be set aside for a multitude of extraordinary tastes and innovative ideas spanning decades of scootering lifestyles.

For anyone with a previously limited knowledge and appreciation of scooters, the Custom Show, together with the weekend's varying activities, is guaranteed to turn heads and transform attitudes.
