Westlife Perform Live at Osborne House

Ten thousand fans made their way home from Osborne House on the evening of Saturday 29th July a little bedraggled but on a definite upbeat note having just been wowed by Irish boy band and chart topping super-group Westlife.

Brought to you by Royal Invitation

Westlife Ticket for the concert at Osborne HouseThe band have taken both the United Kingdom and Ireland by storm whilst capturing the hearts of the nation’s youth in clocking up a record-breaking 14 number 1 singles and 3 multi-million selling albums from 1999 through to the present day.
They played live at the outdoor concert on the magnificent Durbar Lawn at Osborne House – the former royal residence of her majesty Queen Victoria.

The show itself proved to be as spectacular as its regal surroundings, with a full array of fireworks, pyrotechnics and theatrical special effects engulfing the stage at various intervals. The four members of Westlife; Shane Filan, Kian Egan, Nicky Bryne and Mark Feehily made several costume changes which helped set the mood for the frequent variation in tempo which was demanded by the diverse range of material on their playlist.

A song for all seasons

The crowd relax in the grounds of Osborne House & prepare for the boys to take to the stageCrowds swayed from side to side during the sentimental verses of the likes of ‘My Love’ (2000), ‘Queen of My Heart’ (2001) and ‘You Raise Me Up’ (2005) and danced in delight to the more lively ‘World of Our Own’ (2002), ‘When You’re Looking Like That’ (2000) ‘Amazing’ (2006) plus Comic Relief hit and cover of Billy Joel’s ‘Uptown Girl’ (2001) which was performed as part of the bands tribute to the 1960’s Rat Pack.

The wonders of modern video technology made it possible for Westlife to be accompanied on stage by legendary female singer Diana Ross for the recreation of their 2005 duet ‘When You Tell Me That You Love Me,’ whilst their 2003 cover version of the Barry Manilow hit 'Mandy' provoked a rapturous response from fans of all ages.

As the curtain came down, so too did the rain

Isle of Wight Radio brought the event to Osborne House in conjunction with John Giddings of London-based promoters Solo, who have also been responsible for organising the hugely successful Nokia Isle of Wight Festival throughout the past 5 years.

Out came the umbrella's, but spirits remained brightThe Westlife concert took place a year to the day from when their former manager and ex-Boyzone singer/songwriter Ronan Keating graced the same stage in East Cowes.
Ironically this date was once again chosen owing to its previous reputation for fine weather! Thankfully the rain refrained from being as prominent a feature as it was during the Ronan gig, but it seemed determined to make an appearance for the Westlife boys when they returned to the stage for their encore.

However, spirits were far from dampened as unfazed concert-goers pulled on their plastic-macs and seated picnic-goers sheltered underneath brollies; determined that nothing would detract them from the contagious warmth and energy being presented on stage.

Helping us to make a name for ourselves

The stage ablaze with fireworks & special effectsWestlife, who have previously walked away with the prestigious ITV Record of the Year award on no less than three occasions; told fans at Osborne House that this had been their first ever visit to the Island and without a doubt they had left it far too long to come and see us.

The boys, who joked about having made the trip across the Solent by private yacht, will now be added to the long list of big name stars to have played on the Island in recent years; helping to boost our reputation as one of the UK’s up and coming major music venues.
