Nokia Isle of Wight Festival 2006 - Your ViewsHere are some of your views on the Nokia Isle of Wight Festival 2006. If you would like to add your views to this page, please submit them to us using the 'Feedback Form.' COMMENTS: The Isle of Wight rock festival 2006 was amazing. My opinion is that the Foo Fighters were the best act. It's much better to camp as well. If you don't go you are missing out on a huge weekend packed full of fun!!!!! NAME: em COMMENTS: it woz a brilliant weekend, i absolutly loved it! can't wait for nxt years festival!! wahoo!!! NAME: jon COMMENTS: It was my first festival at the budding age of 29!! what was I thinking!!! should have done it LOOOOONNNG ago! was ABSOLUTELY brilliant!! atmosphere was quality!! everyone was sound!! Music Friday was QUALITY!! Prodigy kicking it off was amazing! Weather was nice. Warm and sunny people and hazy days and wicked nights!! Roll on 2007!!! NAME: J P COMMENTS: by far the best festival ever!!! what an amzing weekend i had the time of me life!!! the bands were amazing especially the foos and the kooks!!! i really really wanna see green day go in 2007 that would be awesome!!! anyways cant wait till 2007 its gonna b amazing!!! NAME: K COMMENTS: Great weekend for the 5th year running, only disappointment was the parking. If you got there early you had to lug your gear the furthest! One suggestion for 07, put speakers up in the camp site, too far to keep walking backwards and forwards for some of the bands on early. Cant wait for next year. NAME: Grovesy COMMENTS: Wow! Thats all i can say! The festival this year was a huge success! To be honest on the friday when i sat and anticapated the event on the bus i was slightly pesismistic about the line up compared to previous years, only a few bands stuck out in my mind... i was wrong! Every single band was awesome! And the main reason i was going, the atmosphere, didnt disappoint! Everyone is so friendly and it almost feels like your in one big family with 50,000 other people for the weekend! What a weekend! By far my favourite festival and roll on next year! P.S Please next year announce Feeder and the foo fighters again... who cares if they have played before, they are the best two performances i have ever seen at the fest! NAME: Dondea COMMENTS: Sorry to say organisation was not as good as last year!! Me and my friends (all 15!) couldn't believe that we were not allowed to pitch our tent in the same field as last year. The camp guard informed us that they were not opening 4 fields until the Saturday!! So a couple of us went to try and find a spot big enough for 7 tents!! 10 mins into our journey we were then told that they had just opened the campsites that they weren't going to open til Saturday! Please change this for next year by having the fields already open and a choice of where to pitch was brilliant last year. Can I also ask where were all the toilets this year? We had 10 portaloos for 3 camping fields - what a joke. My friends & I felt that for the extra cost they didn't cater as well as last year, sorry to say roll on Glasto - not so many pathetic rules! NAME: Marcus COMMENTS: To M D Smith and the comments made. I really think you need to take a good long hard look at where your enjoyment levels lie!!! Unlike Glastonbury, Leeds, Reading etc, this festival is a one stage party 50k + people having the same experience at the same time. Not once was I stopped from filling up at the standpipe, and I can live without a packet of crisps at a gig. The food and drink prices were very reasonable, unlike many other festivals I could mention! Fantastic event, well organised and lots of fun. Keep it up, see you in 2007!! NAME: Donkey COMMENTS: What a rocking time we all had ( 4 of us ). The only downer was the toilets. The first night was ok, but by the 3rd night... Oh my god. Music was fantastic, food was fantastic, people we`re fantastic. Cant wait till 2007 NAME: Louisa COMMENTS: I couldn't have had a better time at the isle of wight festival - it was perfect. I will definitely be there next year. Can I suggest someone getting the organisers to mention on their website that you can't get in the camper van field after midnight next year, please? Was a slight problem as there were six of us just having travelled for many hours! - Roll on 2007! NAME: Helen COMMENTS: I attended the IOW festival last year and this year and I can safely say it is the highlight of my summer. The people are friendly, the weather is perfect, the bands are second to none and the whole atmosphere is unforgettable. I cannot wait for 2007!!!! NAME: i m happy COMMENTS: Wasn't looking forward to the line up as much as in previous years but it was a fantastic weekend, glad i went. some very strange characters. hopefully next year the river medina will have been 'dredged' and the ferry will be able to drop off festival goers at the gates! NAME: playdough COMMENTS: With regard to the previous comments made on this page by M D Smith; I was informed that it was due to safety reasons that bottle tops were not being issued when drinks were purchased (incase of being thrown by silly people). Refilling bottles at standpipes was encouraged as far as I could see, especially with the rather hot and sunny weather. NAME: M D Smith COMMENTS: Glastonbury was cancelled this year, so myself and friends decided to try out the Isle of Wight's event instead. I'm sorry to report that we were very unimpressed. The music and weather of course were excellent, but the organisation left a lot to be desired. The failure to invest in adequate facilities was perhaps a symptom of the dismal penny pinching that seemed to characterise the weekend. Can you imagine, bottles of water sold without tops just in case people had the temerity to refill them for free from the stand-pipes? Or the refusal to allow so much as a packet of crisps to be carried in by festival-goers to prevent harm to burger van profits? Surely this is no way to attract a long term following to an event. The organisers need to learn that a fesitval should not be just about sponsorship and profits if they expect us to return another year. NAME: Stuart Heaton COMMENTS: As a hardened festival goer of some years now, I have experienced the full and unique spectrum of the British music festival. From the lifestyle and history of Glastonbury to the raw energy and mud of Reading, I found myself back at the IOW for the second year running hoping that it would come close to the complete event of 2005. Disappointed as I was not to be able to watch an England World Cup game with 50,000 other fans I still found the overall ambience and spectacle of this years festival second to none. The improved facilities and larger arena with more late night events enhanced an already fabulously well organised event. Security was second to none thanks to a considerate police presence and I had the best time. I can't quite see how it can be bettered from here on in but its great enough as it is, I honestly cannot wait until next year! NAME: Thomas Munro COMMENTS: Fantastic event, great atmosphere just wish the parking, camping arena weren't so far away from each other. Can't wait till next year. NAME: Groovy Mover COMMENTS: The dance tent was the best place to be! Good music and good moving; a thoroughly good time was had by everyone. Roll on the festival 2007 NAME: Playdough COMMENTS: Please! don't ever take the IW festival away (again!) Its a wonderful event which I look forward to every year and it makes me proud to be an Islander. |
