Nokia Isle of Wight Festival 2006

The countdown has begun to what is undoubtedly one of the biggest calendar events of the year for the Isle of Wight - the Nokia Isle of Wight Festival.

The festival is taking place on the 9th, 10th and 11th June 2006 in Seaclose Park, Newport and with headline acts including the likes of Coldplay, The Prodigy, Foo Fighters, Placebo, Goldfrapp, Primal Scream, Lou Reed and Richard Ashcroft this summer's festival is set to once again reinforce the Island's ever-advancing status within the UK music scene.



Much sought-after weekend tickets for the Nokia Isle of Wight Festival sold out three months prior to the event; prompting those without passes to beg, plead and surf the pages of eBay and the like in the hope of gaining entry to this unmissable event.

Friday 9th June; Joint Headliners - The Prodigy and Placebo
The Prodigy recently celebrated platinum sales earlier on this year when their fifth album 'Their Law - The Singles' entered the UK Album Charts at number 1 and sold over 300,000 copies within the first month. Voted 'Best Festival Dance Act' of 2005, The Prodigy are set to electrify Isle of Wight festival-goers on the evening of Friday 9th June. The Prodigy
Placebo Placebo are one of Britain's biggest selling artists with hits spanning nearly a decade. 2004 saw the release of their multi-platinum album 'Once More With Feeling' - a collection of their singles from 1996 through to the current day. Described as 'The Best Rock Band for a Decade,' Placebo will co-headline the opening night of the festival alongside The Prodigy.

Saturday 10th June Headliner - Foo Fighters
US Alternative rock group The Foo Fighters are one of the most celebrated live bands in the world. Formed following the demise of Nirvana, Foo Fighters have earned themselves a strong international following and have scored a number of hit songs throughout the past 10 years. They are set to wow the Isle of Wight to an unforgettable evening of pure musical genius on Saturday 10th June. Foo Fighters

Sunday 11th June Headliner - Coldplay
ColdplayColdplay are currently on a 16-month world tour and will be performing the Sunday evening headline slot on the Isle of Wight as their only live show in Europe this summer. This multi-award winning band have achieved enormous success throughout the past few years, reaching multi platinum status on all of their albums and winning two Brit Awards in February of this year. Coldplay released their third album entitled X&Y in 2005 and are widely acclaimed as being the UK's biggest band of the present day.


Useful Information


Please be aware that you will not be permitted into the main arena if you are seen to be in procession of any of the following:
  • Pets (or any kind of animal)
  • Glass containers of any kind
  • Alcohol
  • Gazebos
  • Tables
  • Deckchairs
  • BBQ's
  • Laser Pens

Only water or other non-alcoholic drinks in plastic bottles with unbroken seals (up to 500ml per person) are permitted into the festival site each day. (Exceptions are made for diabetics).

Please avoid bringing anything of value along to the festival and refrain from leaving anything valuable in your car or tent. Note: ATM Cash Machines will be available on site.

Island Residents

If you live on the Isle of Wight it is strongly recommended that you avoid driving to the festival site as there will only be a limited number of parking spaces surrounding Seaclose Park.

Southern Vectis will be operating special festival shuttle buses above and beyond their normal timetable. Please visit the Southern Vectis website for festival-specific travel information
