The Isle of Wight has been an enthusiastic member of the International Island Games since the inaugural Games were held in the Isle of Man in 1985. We have also been participants in the World Youth Games since their inception. The bi-annual games are held on one of the member islands and is ever growing, with over 2129 competitors competing in Guernsey at the 2003 Games. The Isle of Wight Island Games Association has officially submitted a bid to host the 2011 games with a decision being made on Saturday 8th July. Details of the bid, and the main bid document can be downloaded using the link on the left, or from here. We will be regularly updating this section of the website over the coming weeks, months and potentially years giving you all the new about the Island Games, not only for the bid to host the 2011 games, but also the upcoming 2007 games in Rhodes. Please check back regularly. |
