Carisbrooke Shipping Limited
Carisbrooke Shipping Ltd, based in Cowes and Rotterdam, owns and manages a fleet of 26 vessels between 2,500 dwt and 20,000 dwt. Two 19,300 dwt multi-purpose vessels are also on order which, together with further commissioning of new vessels, will increase the size of the CS fleet to more than 30 ships. All the vessels are multi-purpose cargo vessels with long box holds and movable bulkheads which enable several commodities to be carried simultaneously. The vessels are fully fitted to carry containers, bulk fertilizers, dangerous goods or IMO hazardous cargoes and, with their dehumidification system, are ideal for steel or paper cargoes. The newer vessels in the CS fleet are also fitted with cranes to enable them to load or discharge cargoes without using shore based cranes. Carisbrooke Shipping's modernisation and expansion programme has placed the company in an ideal position to meet the challenges which are faced by all shipping companies in a very competitive market. Successful ship owners have to demonstrate flexibility and the ability to react to an ever-changing market place. In the early to mid 1980s Carisbrooke Shipping predominately traded in and around Northern European waters, in the late 1980s and 1990s the company broadened its operations to include the Mediterranean and the Baltic Sea. Today ships from the Carisbrooke fleet serve in the Pacific, off the west coast of the United States, and in South American and West African waters. Contact details
