Beach Masters

Each year the Isle of Wight Council employs Beach Masters at our busy resort beaches of Sandown, Shanklin, Ventnor and Ryde.

These positions are available each year from 1st May to 30th September.

We are looking for persons with high-level communication skills and an understanding of dealing with the public who sometimes may be distressed.

You will be part of a team being proactive in accident prevention through Water Safety Advice, Seafront Inspections, Signage and Equipment, and in the reactive role of assisting people with lifesaving services, first aid and helping lost children.

Previous experience is not essential but a good knowledge and understanding of beach and water activities would be desirable. Full RLSS Lifeguard Training will be given and upon completion you will receive a national beach lifeguard qualification.

In order to apply you must be able to swim 400 metres in 8 minutes. And to ensure fitness compliance all applicants will be required to undertake a swim test prior to the interview which will take place immediately after, if successful.
