Wight
in Bloom competition 2008
This year we are grateful once again to Wightlink Ferries for increasing
their sponsorship support of this popular competition. With this assistance,
of all steering groups involved in this year’s competition we were
once again able to purchase plants to enhance various public areas across
the Island. The steering groups often rely on sponsorship and donations
from individuals and businesses to help maintain these features, helping
the funds to go even further.
Once again 2008 proved to be very popular with Island residents with
an increase in participants, once again helping to make a contribution
towards the Island environment.
This year there was a big increase in school and community group entries
showing horticulture is starting to play a significant role in education
by providing an outdoor classroom for learning and healthy activity.
