Wight Summer Walks
Explore the Island's countryside and coast with local experts as your guides – activities for everybody!
Walks and events for each month are detailed individually
|
In this programme of outdoor events, local experts share their knowledge and special understanding of local wildlife, conservation, history and the rural economy on guided activities for all ages. It’s an ideal chance for you to explore the Island’s unique countryside and coast during friendly outings in the company of fellow walkers.
The Isle of Wight Council's Countryside Section has brought this programme together, and is grateful to all this season's contributors, many of whom give up their time voluntarily to organise and lead these events.

The leaflet is also available on request as an audiotape, in large print or Braille.
This is the online version of the programme. Check this website before you set off - any last-minute changes will be shown here, and sometimes extra events and information are shown which do not appear on the printed leaflet.
Get fit, learn new skills and help conservation! There are two different ways to do it. See the
Volunteering page for more details or
walk your way to health at your own pace on the
IW Health Walks.
Before setting off
For many activities, there's no need to book - just turn up on the day at the stated time. Activities which require a reservation or confirmation beforehand are indicated.
Footpaths and bridleways may be muddy in places, so always be prepared. Good stout shoes or boots and, possibly, wellies and a waterproof would be sensible. Organisers have indicated, as far as possible, those events which are strenuous or pose difficulties en route.
No walk or activity in the programme will be cancelled before it is due to start except in exceptional circumstances. Whatever the weather, the leader will be at the start of the walk, but may decide to vary the route or, in extreme circumstances, may cancel there and then.
Please take your litter home with you. Dogs, where permitted, must be on a lead. Please avoid obstruction or damage to verges if you travel by car to the starting point and park considerately. Thank you.

Note that the leaflets are primarily aimed at walks and rides for which there is little or no charge. Other events are normally only included if space allows. Other events and information may be included in this online edition which are not in the printed leaflet. This website may also be updated with any changes to the published events, so check here before setting off for the latest information.
