HOSPITALS

• The Record Office holds records of a number of the Island’s hospitals. These include minutes, annual reports, accounts, correspondence and records of patients, although the quantity and range of material that survives for a particular hospital varies.

• The records are subject to closure periods: patients’ records are closed for 100 years, while most other records are closed for 30 years.

• Catalogues to the collections are available on the Access to Archives database. If you wish to search these catalogues, you will need to visit the A2A Home Page and use the search facilities.

• In addition, details about the hospitals of both the Isle of Wight and the rest of the country are available via the Hospital Records Database.
