Register Your Food Business - Information and online registration for your food premises

What is registration?

Registration of premises used for a food business (including market stalls, delivery vehicles and other moveable structures) is required by law.

Who needs to register?

If you operate a food business, you must inform us about any premises you use for storing, selling, distributing or preparing food. Please note a Food Business is defined as any undertaking, whether for profit of not and whether public of private, however a further interpretation of what is intended to be covered by registration process is that this should only apply to undertakings, that have a certain continuity of activities and a certain degree of organisation.
If you use vehicles for your food business in connection with permanent premises such as a shop or warehouse you only need to tell us how many vehicles you have. You do not need to register each vehicle separately. If you have one or more vehicles but no permanent premises, you must tell us where they are normally kept.
If a food premises are used by several catering business (for example, a village hall or conference centre), the person who allows the premises to be used fro this purpose is responsible for registering them.
Anyone starting a new food business must register with us at least 28 days before doing so.

How do I register?

You can register by completing the form online by clicking this link to Food Premises Registration Form. This form is also available below as a PDF if you would like to preview it before hand.

What happens to the information given on the form?

We will enter your details on our register. A register of addresses and the type of business carried out at each will be open to inspection by the general public.

Changes

Once you have registered with us you only need to notify us of a change of food business operator or if the nature of the business changes, or if there is a change of address at which moveable premises are kept.
