Short Term Closures

Public Footpath N175 will be closed from Tuesday 27th May 2008 to Thursday 27th November 2008.
The path is being closed in the interest of public safety while adjacent building works occur.
A diversion route is available via Snooks Hill.

Public Footpath N31 will be closed from Monday 19th May 2008 to Monday 18th August 2008.
The path will be closed from Daish Way to Bishops Way, for repair and surfacing works.
A diversion will be available via Bishops Way.

Public Bridleway NC31 will be closed from Monday 28th July 2008 to Friday 8th August 2008.
The path is being closed for surface works.
A diversion route for pedestrians only will be available via Canteen Road and Public Footpath NC32
A diversion for cyclists and equestrians will be available via Canteen Road, A3020 Godshill Road, and Public Bridleway NC31.

Long Term Closures

Brook

Public Footpath BS79 will be closed until at least November 2008.
Land movement has made the path unsafe for public use.
The path is closed from the junction with BS98 (GR 3865 8350) to the junction with BS78 (GR 3854 8248)
A diversion is available locally

Cowes and Gurnard

Public Footpath CS35 will be closed until at least November 2008
The collapse of the sea wall has made the path unsafe for public use.
The path is closed from The Luck Gurnard (GR4711 9538) to The junction with Public Bridleway CS36 (GR 4731 9549)

Newtown

Public Footpath CB9, Newtown Quay will be closed until at least June 2008 (likely to be extended to late summer).
The wooden boardwalk collapsed in the winter leaving the path unsafe for public use.
The path is closed from the junction with CB15a (GR 4199 9096) to a point approx 160 metres north of this junction (GR 4190 9110).
A diversion is in place on adjacent National Trust Land.

Freshwater

Public Footpath F68 will be closed from January 2008 to Friday 25th July 2008.
Land movement has made the path unsafe for public use.
The path is closed from the junction with Public Footpath F35 (GR 8504 3704) to the beach (GR 3704 8489).
No diversion is available.

Newport

Public Footpath N59 in Carisbrooke will be closed until at least June 2008 (likely to be extended).
An unsafe wall adjacent to the path has made the path unsafe for public use.
The path is closed from the junction with Public Footpath N64 (GR 4866 8828) to
N60 (GR 4867 8835).
A diversion is available locally

Ventnor Undercliff

Series of paths NT47, NT48, NT49, NT50 & NT51 from GR 5042 7546 to GR 5160 7580
Landslip has caused sections of all of these paths to become unsafe for public use. Walkers using the coastal route should divert inland to continue.
These closures have been extended to November 2008

V124 from GR 5214 7615 to GR 5232 7586
This section suffered landslip when Undercliff Drive fell. Currently unsafe for public use.
This closure has been extended to November 2008

Chale

Public Footpath C34 Whale Chine will be closed until at least November 2008
Land movement has made the path unsafe for public use.
The path is closed from the junction with Public Footpath SW30 (GR 4684 7825) to the beach (GR 4695 7849).
No diversion is available.

Niton

Public Footpath NT30 will be closed until at least June 2008 (Likely to be extended).
A unsafe adjacent wall has made the path unsafe for public use.
The path is closed from Undercliff Drive (GR 5064 7596) to the junction with NT29 (GR 5066 7610).
A diversion is available via Undercliff Drive to Barrack Shute.

Newchurch

Public Footpath NC36 will be closed until at least July 2008 (Likely to be extended).
Local excavation works require that the path be closed.
An adjacent diversion is available very close to the path.
