LOCAL TRANSPORT PLAN

The Isle of Wight Council's Local Transport Plan (LTP) sets out the framework for the development of a sustainable transport strategy on the Isle of Wight.

Our first LTP was adopted in 2001 and covers the years 2001 to 2006 and the second, LTP2, will run from 2006 to 2011.

The council are currently compiling their third plan - the Island Transport Plan. Details of the plan’s progress can be viewed here.

The Isle of Wight Quality Transport Partnership is an independent organisation comprising of transport operators, providers, interest and user groups. The group considers transport issues across and to the Isle of Wight and are currently considering freight issues. Click here to view more information about the work of the QTP.

SUSTAINABLE TRAVEL TO SCHOOL

The Isle of Wight Council promotes active (walking and cycling) and sustainable (bus, train and carshare) travel to school. A Sustainable Travel to School Strategy has been written, please click here to access. Public consultation of the draft strategy closed on 31st January 2008, please click here to view. The Isle of Wight Council are a supportive member of the recently established Solent Transport partnership.

Solent Transport is a partnership of local transport stakeholders who seek to develop an integrated and seamless transport system for the Solent region that strengthens the local economy whilst also protecting the environment.
