Cabinet Office

The Cabinet Office is at the centre of Government, coordinating policy and strategy across government departments. This website brings together information from units in the Department, including how to nominate someone for an honour.

Department for Culture, Media and Sport

The DCMS website for cultural and sporting activities

Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs

Defra works for the essentials of life: water, food, air, land, people, animals and plants

Department for Education and Skills

The DFES website includes school and college performance tables and the National Curriculum as well as a wide range of information on educational policies and developments with links to other key educational web sites.

Department for International Development

The Department for International Development (DFID) is the part of the UK Government that manages Britain's aid to poor countries and works to get rid of extreme poverty.

Department of Health

The DOH website provides health and social care policy, guidance and publications, including performance statistics.

Department of Trade and Industry

The DTI works with businesses, employees and consumers to drive up UK productivity and competitiveness to deliver prosperity for all.

Department for Transport

The DFT website includes links to the Highway Code and road safety issues.

Department for Work and Pensions

Formerly the DSS, this site provides a guide to benefits and services and current allowances

Foreign and Commonwealth Office

The FCO website includes sections on travel advice and very useful country profiles

H M Treasury

The H M Treasury website includes the latest indicators and forecasts for the UK economy; budget and public spending review reports.

Home Office

This website includes information on crime, policing, immigration and nationality.

Houses of Parliament

Information on the work of both the House of Commons and the House of Lords, including details of parliamentary committees, MPs and Peers. The “Explore Parliament” section is very useful for schools.

Ministry of Defence

The MOD is responsible for both defending the UK and promoting international peace and security

Office of the Deputy Prime Minister

The ODPM is responsible for local and regional government, housing, planning, fire, regeneration, social exclusion and neighbourhood renewal.
