National Libraries Day Saturday 4th February
Cowes Library will be celebrating with displays, activities, groups and entertainment throughout the day. Cakes and refreshments will be on sale with all proceeds going to the Supporters of Cowes Library Fund. We would like your suggestions or comments on what you want to see or do in your library. Suggestions will then go into an adult’s and children’s prize draw to win a £10 book token, and if you join the library on the day, or bring a friend to join, you can get a free DVD rental.

10am – 12pm
Children’s games. Bring a game to share

10am – 4.30pm
‘Beautiful Wight’ photography exhibition. Local photographer Christian Beasley will be launching his range of work from the Island. The exhibition which will be on display for the whole of February includes island scenes, flowers and wildlife. A particular love of his are the Island’s iconic Red Squirrels. His pictures will be available to purchase.

10am – 4.30pm
Cowes Heritage Group display of Butchers shops in Cowes and also a chance to meet members of the group and find out what they do.

10am – 4.30pm
Health Trainer Display. Find out how you can get fitter for 2012.

10am – 12pm
Your local councillor Paul Fuller will be available to talk about any issues concerning you. Paul regularly holds a surgery at Cowes Library the first Tuesday of the month 4.30 – 5pm.

1.30 – 3.30pm
Get started with computers. Carol offers one to one classes in basic computer training. Come and meet her and see how you can start using a mouse and keyboard to accessing the Internet.

2 – 4pm
Cowes Reading Group. Meet members or ask a member of staff about joining and what they read.

2pm
Meet Huxley the Magic Man in the library.

2.30 – 3pm
Enchanting Magical stories for 4 – 8 year olds told by professional storyteller Sue Bailey. Under 5s must be accompanied by an adult throughout.

3pm
Huxley the Magic Man’s Magic Show for children.

Hit a Brick Wall with your Family Tree?
Free 10 minute ‘drop-in’ advice sessions are being held by the Heritage Librarian the first Friday in the month. Next session will be Friday 3rd February.

Starting Your Family Tree?
Come along to an introduction to researching your family history including taking a look at some of the main Internet sites available. The session is at Cowes Library on Thursday 9th February 10am – 12pm and costs £5 per person payable on the day. Booking is essential so contact the library on Tel: 293341.

Big Bad Stories. Stories for 4 – 8 year olds with stories, games and crafts at Cowes Library on Friday 17th February 10.30 – 11.45am. There is no need to book. Under 5s must be accompanied by an adult throughout.
