How
quickly should the death be registered?
You are expected to register the death within 5 days of the date of death.
In some circumstances the death may be reported to the Coroner.
In this case the registration of the death may be delayed. If you have any queries
please contact the Coroner's office or the register office.
Where can I register a death?
The death has to be registered at the Register Office in the district in which
it took place. If you do not live in the district were the death occurred, you
may be able to give the details to your local office, although the death will
not be registered there. Please telephone your nearest Register Office for further
advice.
