The Young Archaeologists ClubThe Young Archaeologists Club (YAC) is a national organisation run by the Council for British Archaeology as its junior body. National YAC acts as an umbrella organisation for a network of local branches, and its president is Tony Robinson from Channel 4’s Time Team. The branches organise practical activities for children aged between 9 and 16 that give young people an involvement in archaeology in their local area. ![]() The Isle of Wight branch was formed in 2001 by the County Archaeologist, Ruth Waller, but due to increasing outside commitments she has handed the reigns over to Delian Backhouse-Fry. YAC events take place once a month in a variety of venues. By the end of 2002 the branch boasted numbers of over thirty children aged from 9 to 15.
