The ‘Oakvale’ housing development in Oakfield, Ryde was commended by the Judges in the ‘Best Social Housing Development’ category.

Best Small Commercial Development – Briddlesford Lodge Farm Café
Success of the project has been delivered through a holistic approach combining a well considered brief, strong team work, financial support through various funding bodies and clarity of goals from the onset.

The sustainability of the design incorporated state of the art air source renewable energy together with a feature wood-burning stove in the cafe utilising a large amount of the wood resource from Briddlesford woodland.

A common sense approach from the Local Authority Building Control Department helped and contributed to the achievement of the design.

Best Social Housing Development – Oakvale, High Street, Oakfield, Ryde
An unusual mixed ownership development of affordable housing, constructed to and above Building Regulation standards, incorporating many (eco-friendly) design features.

Consistent and quality construction has resulted from a good working relationship between Stoneham Construction and Isle of Wight Council Building Control, and good site management and inspection.

Due to good workmanship, detailing and inspection, the dwellings have all far exceeded the minimum requirements for acoustic performance and air permeability, and minimum U-value standards have also been bettered by the effective use of timber frame design and environmentally friendly techniques / materials.
