LIZARDS

I saw a lizard, what species is it?

  • The only native lizards on the Island are Common Lizard and Slow-worm; both are protected species. In addition, the introduced Wall Lizard is well-established in the Ventnor area. Contrary to rumours, Sand Lizards have never been recorded in the wild from the Island (neither have Smooth Snakes or Natterjack Toads).
