DEVELOPMENT CONTROL


The aim of Development Control is to ensure that the pattern and nature of proposed development on the Island falls within policies set out in the Unitary Development Plan and follows Central Government legislation and guidance as set out in Planning Policy Guidance Statements.

The section is supported by a comprehensive Administration Team with front-line enquiries being answered by the Customer Information Team.

Development Control is the collective name for three main services:

Development Control (Planning Applications)
The Development Control section is made of up four main groups:

East Team & West Teams
Householders Team
Major Submissions Team

Each Team is made up of Officers responsible for Planning Applications in specific areas on the Island, or with specific types of application i.e. proposed major developments.

Enforcement
The Enforcement Team is responsible for investigating breaches of Planning Legislation and taking any necessary enforcement action. The Team comprises four individuals:

Enforcement Team Leader
Enforcement Officer – East Team
Enforcement Officer – West Team

Appeals
The Appeals Team is responsible for any Planning Applications which are currently going through the appeals system. The Team comprises two individuals:
