CHEVERTON DOWN WIND FARM APPEAL

Decision issued: 30/08/2011
Decision: Dismissed
The Planning Inspectorate has today (30/08/2011) issued its decision on this case and the associated requests for awards for costs.

If you have any queries on the decision, or the implications of the decision in relation to the extant permission at Cheverton then please email planning.policy@iow.gov.uk and we will ensure that your queries are answered.

On 5 January 2009 Eversheds LLP (on behalf of Cornwall Light & Power) submitted an application for:

“Three wind turbine generators with hub height of 80m & rotor diameter of 90m (tip height 125m); control building, access tracks, underground electrical cables & temporary construction compound (additional information received)(readvertised application)”.

This application (Isle of Wight Council reference P/00021/09 – TCP/2114/E) was formally validated and registered by the Isle of Wight Council on 27 January 2009.

On 3 December 2009 the Isle of Wight council issued a refusal of planning permission for the development. All documentation relating to the refused scheme, including the Environmental Statement can be found on the link provided.

Eversheds LLP submitted an appeal against this refusal to both the Isle of Wight Council and The Planning Inspectorate on 29 March 2010. This was subsequently validated by the Planning Inspectorate on 30 March 2010 with the appeal reference number APP/P2114/A/0102125561.
