DEVELOPMENT BRIEFS AND DESIGN GUIDESWhat are they?Planning briefs and design guides provide planning guidance about issues that will need to be addressed as part of any development proposals for sites or issues, and the objectives that should guide development. They are prepared in consultation with the general public, businesses and other interested parties, and everyone’s views are taken into account prior to producing a final document. The document is then adopted formally by the Council and will be taken into account as a material consideration when deciding planning applications. The council currently has design guides or development briefs for the following:
