CCTV SERVICE
The Isle of Wight Council CCTV system is in partnership with Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Trust and Hampshire Constabulary.
Introduction
A Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) system has been introduced to Newport, Ryde, Sandown and St Mary’s Hospital. This system, known as the Isle of Wight CCTV System and comprises a number of cameras installed at strategic locations. All the cameras are fully operational with pan, tilt and zoom facilities. Others are fixed cameras, images from which are presented in the same room. Secondary monitoring facilities are located at Police Headquarters Netley but there are no recording facilities at any location other than the CCTV control room and St Mary’s Hospital. The Isle of Wight CCTV System has evolved from the formation of a partnership between Isle of Wight Council, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary and Isle of Wight Healthcare Trust who have all certified on the previous form their acceptance of the requirements of this code.
The partners will have no involvement in operating the system, except the Police who under special circumstances set out in this code, may take direct control or instruct the control room staff in monitoring a crime or suspicious incident.
