DISPOSAL OF FRIDGES & FREEZERS

Due to new European Legislation, there are now special arrangements in place for the disposal of fridges, freezers and fridge freezers from domestic properties.

OPTION 1

If you can, take the unit yourself to one of the Civic Amenity Sites. There is no charge to leave it there.

Lynnbottom Civic Amenity Site, Briddlesford Road, Wootton.
Open 7 days a week, including Bank Holidays (not Christmas Day).
Summer opening hours - 7am to 10pm Winter opening hours - 7am to 7pm

Forest Park Civic Amenity Site, Forest Road, Newport.
Open weekends only 9.30am to 4.30pm

Afton Civic Amenity Site, Afton Road, Freshwater
Open weekends only 9.30am to 4.30pm

OPTION 2

Collection of a fridge, freezer or fridge freezer can be arranged through the Isle of Wight Council. There is a charge of £20 per unit. Call on 823708 to arrange this service. There is, on average, a two week waiting list for this service.

Householders can go to any waste contractor and arrange collection and disposal. Charges will vary.

DISPOSAL OF UNITS FROM TRADE, COMMERCIAL AND BUSINESS PREMISES

The above arrangements do not apply to fridges, freezers and fridge freezers which have been produced in the course of a business, trade or commercial activity. It is illegal to deposit commercial waste at a Civic Amenity Site.

Please contact Standen Heath Landfill Site on 822240 for information regarding disposal of commercial units.
