The Isle of Wight has only one ice rink - Planet
Ice, which is situated in Ryde. The rink offers public skating as well as
hosting the Island's Ice Hockey Team - the Isle of Wight Raiders. Planet Ice
introduces skating to beginners aswell as pro's. With skate hire and a skate
shop, your sure to find what you want. Fun for all the family all year round.

The IW
Junior Ice Hockey Club was established in 1991 after the Canadian
ice hockey player Dan Sweeney put ice hockey and the IW Raiders on the
map. A number of parents and ex-players got together to form the nucleus
of the Club with half a dozen children of mixed ages. A year later an
under 10's team was entered into the English Ice Hockey Association (EIHA)
Southern League, playing games through-out the south of England. Although
unable to win a game, the children enjoyed the game so much, win or lose,
they came back for more. |
