One Island

The Island is Changing for the Better

The Isle of Wight Council is developing a series of realistic actions we are calling 'One Island'. These Actions have come from the priorities that Island Residents have identified in our recent survey.

Why One Island?

It reflects our determination to bring the Island together, working with one shared vision – encouraging respect and enforcing order, developing a renewed pride in our towns and villages as well as providing value for money council services. One Island is a programme of actions to deliver improvements to quality of life on the Island, such as cleaner, safer streets.

How can you help us shape One Island?

We have developed these actions because, in our recent survey, they were the key areas that you said you wanted to see us take action on. We recognise in the past that we haven’t always involved you effectively. Going forward we want everyone to be involved. You rightly expect better local public services and an improved Island. Help achieve the One Island goal by working with us to ensure we are delivering what you want.

  • Have we identified the right vision?
  • How do you want to see the Island develop?
  • Have we got the priorities right and are we spending your money in the right areas?

It’s your Island and we want to engage all Islanders in shaping the One Island programme. We would like to hear from you.

You can write to us now at: The One Island Team, Isle of Wight Council, County Hall, Newport, Isle of Wight PO30 1UD or email Oneislandteam@iow.gov.uk

Let us know your priorities for the Island and what you would like to see in the One Island programme. There will also be a series of public events throughout the year where we will be seeking your views – the first of these is on 29 January. Please click on the One Island Goal tab for further information). We are listening and will be acting on your views.

Public Events

We are holding the first in a series of public events around the Island, to discuss and explore each of the three key areas with you in more detail. So come along and tell us exactly how we can make a difference to Island life.
