East Wight

DANIEL CLARKE

Daniel Clarke

Hello. I really believe I should be elected because I will

  • Campaign for youth cafes and centres free of charge
  • More bus links with East Wight to the rest of the island
  • Introduce an I.D card for Island youths for them to get a reduced price into leisure and swimming centres and cinemas
  • As there is a problem with antisocial behaviour on the Island the relationship between youths and the police needs to be improved.

Please vote for me!

I'll work towards:-

Making "ready or not tots" available to all teens for a week.

Getting separate facilities in Ryde for youths of all ages, free of charge with a tuck shop to raise money.

After school and holiday courses e.g in first aid.

Extending the Student Rider to under 19s who aren't in education or training.

Cleaning up Ryde streets to make it a nicer place to live.

Under 18 club nights with a +1 pass for older boy/girl friends and more music/dance nights.

Open Youth Council sessions for young people to come and talk about what they want.

Young People exhibiting bad behaviour should be offered workshops and/or voluntary work experience to improve their outlook, culture and career ideas.

There should be facilities and youth centres which appeal to higher age groups. Age groups should be split between under 13s, 13 – 15s and older teenagers to prevent tension and give each age group a sense of ownership.

The youth council could organise events on Friday and Saturday nights to keep people off the streets and prevent underage drinking; these could be live music events and film showings e.t.c

I'll work to get the youth fare, which Red Funnel introduced, extended to Wightlink and Hovertravel so that cheaper access to the mainland is available to young people from the east side of the Island.

Vote for me!

I'm a regular Brading Youth Club user and want to make sure that such excellent facilities are there for all young people who want them.

I'll work alongside the council to ensure that you feel safe in your local area.

I'll work to make sure that your voices are heard on anything that affects young people and I'll make myself known as a youth councillor and will be available to hear your opinions.

Having being elected for East Wight last year I am running again to make the East Wight become better and safer for everyone. I will also help around the whole of the Island.

I will continue to campaign for safer roads and work with the police on issues that we youths feel are problems such as being stopped and searched for on reason.

Many students attend the IW College and have to cross the road which links the Lidl and Sainsbury's  stores; this is a dangerous road to cross and I aim to sort this out and look at ways to make this crossing safer and less likely to cause accidents.

The Big Day Out hasn't been held in Ryde and I think people would like to bring it to Ryde

There should be more events for young people which should be better publicised and publicised well in advance so as people can make arrangements to go.

I'll explore the idea of linking work experience, for students with a particular interest, to businesses which match their favourite or chosen subjects.

I'll work hard with the Youth Council to extend Red Funnel's Youth Fare to Wightlink and Hovertravel to give young people more choices to travel to the mainland at a cheaper rate.

I want cheaper ferry fares, to Portsmouth, as many young people from the Ryde and East Wight like to travel to the mainland but find it too expensive I will campaign for cheaper ferry fares for children and students at off peak times. In the long run this will be cost effective because people will get more used to going to the mainland.

Sports and leisure centres such as Westridge and Ryde High should be cheaper for young people to use; this will help improve fitness and health among young people.

I am interested in bus transport and would work with Southern Vectis to try to improve services to out of the way places.

I want to get as many views, from young people, as possible on all these issues and on anything that affects them.

IDRIS HAMROUSH

I have been a member of the IWYC for 2 years. During this time we have achieved cheaper ferry fares on Red funnel and I've met with Wightlink to discuss them introducing something similar from Ryde to Portsmouth.

I believe I should be elected as I will fight for your rights and help you to realise your goals.

I volunteer for many different organisations that provide services and support for young people such as 1) Connexions  Sub Committee 2)Youth Opportunities Fund 3) The Police Liaison Committee 4) Youth Funding Committee.

If you want to get your points heard vote for me and they will become a reality.

My Manifesto

If I am elected I would:

Try to extend the Southern Vectis number 10 service to 11 pm.

I believe that the Councils' eco island policy could be more than just a few posters.  As this is supposed to keep the world in tact for our generation shouldn't our generation have a say.

I believe that the council on the island should reflect what students genuinely believe not what politicians want them to believe. I would therefore set up a clinic where young people could contact me and together we could take the ideas forward.

I would stand for clarity over the education in the East Wight as I understand the present proposals to be unclear and this worrying for most people.

I would oppose any attempt to close Youth Centres on the island as I believe they are a valuable asset to parts of the islands youth.

It is my belief that there is a void of entertainment for people between 16 and 18 and 10 to 12 year olds on the island. I would look at ways to fill this void.

I would try to ensure new facilities for the East Wight region which seems to have been overlooked in recent times.

Let's make a difference vote Robert Jackson at the youth elections.
