Secondary School Sept 2018

The school admissions application round will open on Monday 11 September 2017.

This application process is open to children who are currently in Year 6 at Primary School who are due to transfer to secondary school in September 2018.

Online Application Process

  • To apply for a school place online please click here. Please note: You will need to register and set up an account in order to complete and submit your application, instructions will be provided via the link.
  • Once you have registered and set up an account you will be able to log in and view or amend your application at any time.
  • When you have completed and submitted your online application you will receive a confirmation email, please check that you receive this email.
  • If you do not receive the confirmation email within 24 hours please contact us by clicking here and completing the send a message to service form. Our other contact details can be found in the contact tab above.
  • The online application process will close at midnight on Tuesday 31 October 2017, after this date the online application form will be closed.


Postal Application Process

  • If you are unable to apply online you can download an application form here. (PDF, 94KB, 2 pages).
  • Print and complete the form.
  • When the form has been completed please return the form to: School Admissions and Transport, County Hall, Newport, Isle of Wight, PO30 1UD
  • If you cannot apply online or download the application form to complete you can request a paper application form from the School Admissions and Transport service by using the details found in the contact tab above.


Application closing date

  • The closing date for secondary school applications is midnight on Tuesday 31 October 2017, after this date the online application form will be closed.
  • Please note: all applications received after the closing date will be considered as 'Late' and will be processed after the applications that were received by the published deadline.


National Offer Day

  • National Offer Day is the day parents will be notified by the School Admissions and Transport team with an offer of a place at a secondary school.
  • National Offer Day for Secondary school places is Thursday 1 March 2018.


Additional information for Christ the King College or The Island Free School applications

  • If you would like your child to attend Christ the King College or The Island Free School you must also complete their supplementary information form.
  • The supplementary information form for Christ the King College can be downloaded below or you can obtain a copy direct from the College on their Open Evening.  
  • The supplementary information form for Island Free School form on their website (link provided below -  further down web page). 
  • Once completed the supplementary information form must be returned direct to the College/School by the time stated in their admissions policy on Tuesday 31 October 2017. 
  • If you do not complete both the Local Authority application form and the supplementary information form, your application will be incomplete and will be processed by Christ the King College and The Island Free School after those who have completed both application forms.
  • Supplementary information forms returned to the schools after the closing date will be processed as late.


Further Information

Following the admissions consultation, it was approved on 8 April 2014 that priority areas were removed and that parents are able to apply for a place at the nearest secondary school to their home address.
