Ticket Terms and Conditions

Below are the terms and conditions of the various tickets issued in relation to home to school transport.

Mainstream Scholars Term Ticket – for use on a contracted school bus service

The contracted school bus service number is printed on the front of the ticket.

  1. The ticket is made available solely for use by the person named on the front face of the ticket.
  2. The ticket is valid term time only between the dates identified on the front face of the ticket.
  3. The ticket must be surrendered to the Council or its agents upon demand.
  4. The ticket is only valid for travel on the contracted school bus service identified on the front face of the ticket.
  5. The ticket is only valid for travel to and from the educational base named on the front face of the ticket.
  6. The ticket may be used on Southern Vectis’ network of public bus services outside of the official start and finish times of the educational base in conjunction with a valid ‘Out of Hours’ ticket. The educational base will issue an ‘Out of Hours’ ticket for the sole purpose of accessing before and after school activities This must be shown to the driver along with the Scholars Term Ticket.
  7. The first bus ticket issued is free of charge, however, if lost, defaced or illegible there is a fee payable for a replacement.

Network Scholars Term Ticket – for use on Southern Vectis’ network of public bus services only

‘NET’ is printed on the front of the ticket.

  1. The ticket is made available solely for use by the person named on the front face of the ticket.
  2. The ticket is valid term time only between the dates identified on the front face of the ticket.
  3. The ticket must be surrendered to the Council or its agents upon demand.
  4. The ticket is only valid for travel on Southern Vectis’ network of public bus services.
  5. This ticket may only be used for single or connecting journeys between the home address and the educational base only on days when the educational base is open.
  6. Travel on the network of public bus services is only permitted to meet with the official start and finish times of the educational base.
  7. The ticket may be used outside of the official start and finish times of the educational base in conjunction with a valid ‘Out of Hours’ ticket. The educational base will issue an ‘Out of Hours’ ticket for the sole purpose of accessing before and after school activities. This must be shown to the driver along with the Scholars Term Ticket.
  8. The first bus ticket issued is free of charge, however, if lost, defaced or illegible there is a fee payable for a replacement.

Post-16 Scholars Term Ticket – for use on Southern Vectis’ network of public bus services only

‘VIFORM’ or ‘IWCOL’ is printed on the front of the ticket.

  1. The ticket is made available solely for use by the person named on the front face of the ticket.
  2. The ticket is valid term time only between the dates identified on the front face of the ticket.
  3. The ticket must be surrendered to the Council or its agents upon demand.
  4. The ticket is only valid for travel on Southern Vectis’ network of public bus services.
  5. This ticket may only be used for single or connecting journeys between the home address and the educational base only on days when the educational base is open.
  6. The ticket may be used in the evening in conjunction with a valid ‘Out of Hours’ ticket. The educational base will issue an ‘Out of Hours’ ticket for the sole purpose of accessing evening courses. This must be shown to the driver along with the Scholars Term Ticket.
  7. The first bus ticket issued is free of charge, however, if lost, defaced or illegible there is a fee payable for a replacement.

Spare/Privilege Seat Scholars Term Ticket – paid for ticket for use on a contracted school bus service

The contracted school bus service number is printed on the front of the ticket.

  1. The ticket is made available solely for use by the person named on the front face of the ticket.
  2. The ticket is valid term time only between the dates identified on the front face of the ticket.
  3. The ticket must be surrendered to the Council or its agents upon demand.
  4. The ticket is only valid for travel on the contracted school bus service identified on the front face of the ticket.
  5. The ticket is only valid for travel to and from the educational base named on the front face of the ticket.
  6. The ticket may be used on Southern Vectis’ network of public bus services outside of the official start and finish times of the educational base in conjunction with a valid ‘Out of Hours’ ticket. The educational base will issue an ‘Out of Hours’ ticket for the sole purpose of accessing before and after school activities. This must be shown to the driver along with the Scholars Term Ticket.
  7. The ticket is discretionary and is offered whilst a seat is available. Should it become necessary to ask your child to vacate his/her seat, as much notice as possible will be given.
  8. The first bus ticket issued is free of charge, however, if lost, defaced or illegible there is a fee payable for a replacement.
