Residential Permits - Pay & Display Locations

The Isle of Wight Council (Parking Places) Order sets out the eligibility criteria for Resident parking permits. The order stipulates that one permit per postal address can be issued to a resident (who is also the owner of the vehicle) whose normal place of abode is at premises of which is:

  1. In a street or esplanade for which parking charges as specified in Schedule 2 of the Isle of Wight Council (Parking Places) Order are in operation, or
  2. Within a 100 metre radius of Cowes Parade or a 200 metre radius of an off-street car park specified in Schedule 3 of the Isle of Wight Council (Parking Places) Order.

Residents’ Permit - Newport on-street

A resident who resides within one of the streets listed below (and who is the owner of the vehicle), may apply for a parking permit to park within the designated pay and display bays within that street. The permit will not be valid for parking in any other location.

  • High Street, Newport.
  • Holyrood Street, Newport. 
  • Lugley Street, Newport.
  • Pyle Street, Newport.
  • Quay Street, Newport.
  • Orchard Street, Newport.

 

Application process - Newport on-street

  • Read the terms and conditions of the permit before completing the application form.
  • You must provide a copy of your current Council Tax Bill or your Council Tax reference number as proof of residence.
  • You must provide a copy of your V5 or vehicle registration document as proof of ownership, however if you are renewing your permit and the vehicle registration mark remains the same you do not need to supply proof of ownership.
  • Please note: If the vehicle is a lease/company vehicle, you must provide a copy of the vehicle ownership along with a copy of the lease agreement or a letter from your employer confirming that the vehicle is for your sole personal use.
  • When you have completed the application form please email it along with the required evidence to parking.services@iow.gov.uk alternatively you can post it and the required evidence to Parking Services, PO BOX 239, Newport, Isle of Wight, PO30 9FQ. 
  • Payment must be made before a permit can be issued. If a cheque is not enclosed with your permit application we will telephone you to take payment. You will need a debit or credit card.

 

Residents’ Permit – Esplanades

A resident who resides on an esplanade in which pay and display is applicable (and who is the owner of the vehicle), may apply for a parking permit to park within the designated pay and display bays within that Esplanade. The permit will not be valid for parking in any other location.

Application process - Esplanades

A resident who resides within a 100m radius of Cowes Parade (and who is the owner of the vehicle), may apply for a parking permit to park within the designated pay and display bays on Cowes Parade. The permit will not be valid for parking in any other location.

Residents’ Permit – 200 metre radius Car Park

A resident who resides within a 200 metres radius of a council car park (and who is the owner of the vehicle), may apply for a parking permit to park within the designated pay and display bays within one named car park. The permit will not be valid for parking in any other location.  Please note that the charge for this permit is inclusive of VAT at the standard rate.

Car Parks managed by Ventnor Town Council

From August 2015, Ventnor Town Council took over the management of Dudley Road, Market Street, Pound Lane and Shore Road in Ventnor.

Please note: that reminder letters are not sent. You must ensure that you apply for your permit with sufficient time to enable us to verify any documentation and to take payment. We endeavour to process all applications within 7 days.

Your vehicle will not be covered for parking until payment has been taken and the permit issued.
